I had a cut my skin in the office just this morning because I was looking for something in the steel cabinet. I didn’t know that the edges of the steel cabinet are so sharp. Anyway I applied alcohol I was waiting for the wound to clot so that I can put an adhesive bandage. I also happen to read information about bandage in form its box.
Self Defense
In 1920, Earle Dickson, Johnson & Johnson employee, invented the Band-Aid so that his notoriously clumsy-in-the-kitchen wife could dress her injuries when he wasn’t around.
Just a year after the Band-Aid was made, the German company Beiersdorf began marketing a “first-aid-bandage” under the name Hansaplast.
Band Leader
By 1924, Johnson & Johnson was producing different sized Band-Aids by machine. More than 100 billion Band-Aids have since been made.
Miracle worker
An adhesive bandage protects from infection and prevents a scab from forming. Scabless wounds are less likely to develop scars.
Cover Tunes
The infamous “Struck on Band-Aid Brand” jingle was written by Barry Manilow. Other celebrities who have lent their image to the brand include Brooke Shields, Teri Garr and john Travolta.
In the United States, the term “Band-Aid” is almost universally used to refer the adhesive bandages. In Britain they are known as “plasters”.
Cutting edge
The latest generation of adhesive bandages includes liquid and spray on fixes. These new ones even contain silver, an antibacterial agent.
