I just had a refreshing drink direct from Korea (South Korea), its one unimaginable drink that never popped in my mind ever since. Well I had this Sweetened Aloe Vera drink and fair enough it tastes really good. I never saw this kind of drink before as what I have known this plant is usually added in shampoos or soap, but not in drinks. I have also seen this plant before, they are really abundant in dry places and I guess it is a bit similar to cactus.
According to the store owner where I bought the juice, Aloe Vera is a nutritious plant; they have been drinking the plant since it was introduced into their country. Aloe Vera is thought to have medicinal value, externally it can cure wound and heals burn; internally it can be used by diabetic person it can also elevate the blood lipids. These positive effects are thought to be due to the presence of compounds such as polysaccharides, mannans, anthraquinones and lectins.
This refreshing drink can certainly quench your thrist, but do keep in mind that Aloe Vera is also very healthy.
